    Cenotaph

    Cenotaph

I drift towards the dawn, your cenotaph.

    Where did you remain ?
    There, passing among the passersby,
    You linger near my habits
    Unaware
Far from the enclosed world of
    My deaths and rebirths
    Where a shadow-thin permanence
    A sentinel, welcomes without blinking
    My relentless returns

    You remain where I faded
And my departure erased me from
    Your memory.
    Discreet, polite,
    It folded up my image
    And left your mind
    Without leaving a trace.

    I carry our ruins,
    And your eyes weigh heavily
    In my baggage.
